Pilates-based Physical Therapy

Pilates-based physical therapy is a holistic, whole body, and evidence-based approach to physical rehabilitation. It incorporates principles of the Pilates method and the use of Pilates apparatus, including the reformer, tower, and chair.  Pilates equipment can be used by anyone at any age, with any impairment.  The Pilates equipment allows for safe and precise movement with the elimination of gravity on painful joints or injured tissues while correcting movement dysfunction.

With one-on-one instruction from a Pilates-educated physical therapist, you will optimize movement patterns, improve range of motion throughout the body, and increase overall stability and core strength.  A Pilates-based physical therapy program can be customized to fit anybody from a new mom looking to get her core back after pregnancy to an elite athlete wanting to gain a competitive edge.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

The Crawl, Walk, Run approach isn’t just for the littlest people in our lives! Sometimes you have to get back to the basics to prepare for the future, and we believe this is the key to success when it comes to healing or preventing injuries.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization or “DNS” is a technique that we use to help our patients leverage the mind body connection to correct faulty movement. DNS is a rehabilitative approach developed by the Prague School of Rehabilitation. Based on the principles of Developmental Kinesiology, it assesses how an infant moves in the first years of life as a blueprint for optimal motor control. Our patients are placed into positions that mimic the first year of life to help coordinate the balance between muscle and brain to achieve proper movement. Who knew we would have to crawl before we run even as adults!

DNS is applicable to people with all types of orthopedic injuries and in recent years has gained international recognition as not only a rehabilitative system but as a system for sports performance and injury prevention.

Functional Dry Needling

Our Doctors of Physical Therapy are trained in Functional Dry Needling. A needle is inserted into the muscle at various locations and creates an effect within the muscle tissue that helps to relax it, decreasing pain and inflammation, and improving function in the surrounding tissues and joints. We will offer this service to any patient whom we feel it will play a helpful role in their recovery process.

  • My experience with Dr.Jennifer has been nothing short of exceptional. I injured my neck almost three years ago and as of recent, I had been dealing with tension type headaches for the last 6+ months. Dr.Jennifer was able to identify the root cause, helped me develop a plan to get better, and haven’t felt this good since my neck injury. Before going and seeing a neurologist, like I did, have her evaluate you to see if the headaches are because of tight neck muscles.

There are three key characteristics that set her apart from other PTs: her knowledge, her upbeat attitude and most importantly, her ability to listen and ask you questions. Unfortunately, so many doctors are narrow minded and diagnose you even before you’ve had a conversation with them. She is the complete opposite of this. By her asking questions, she was able to identify my headache was from weak neck muscles and very tight/tense neck muscles surrounding the occipital nerves, just under the back of the skull.

She has restored my life back to where it was before my neck injury and has given me a new outlook on things. She is worth the time, effort and money to work with. I’m blessed and thankful to have been blessed with her as my current PT.

  • Amy is a fantastic PT! Very personable, a good listener and so intuitive about what ails you. She also explained everything thoroughly which was a pleasant surprise compared to other PT’s I have seen. Highly recommend Inspire PT!
